Acid etch to remove grease, tire marks, and debris. Diamond grinding opens the concrete pores for a true mechanical bond, if necessary.
High-solids, solvent-based epoxy-polyamide base coat applied directly to the prepared concrete for a chemical bond that lasts.
Customize with the color and size of flakes to make your space unique. Decorative, durable, and slip-resistant by design.
Straight answers to the questions homeowners and commercial clients ask most about epoxy.
Epoxy is a thermosetting resin applied as a coating, formed by mixing one part epoxide resin with one part polyamine hardener. When the two components are combined, they chemically react and cure into an extremely hard, durable surface that bonds directly to properly prepared concrete. It's not paint. It's a long-lasting coating system that transforms your floor.
With proper installation and normal use, a multi-layer system with a polyaspartic topcoat holds up for years in a residential garage. Industrial and high-traffic commercial floors see more wear and are repaired or recoated on a shorter cycle. Prep quality is the most important factor. Diamond grinding creates the mechanical bond that keeps the coating from peeling. (We don't warranty horizontal coatings because wear depends entirely on use.)
Sometimes. If the existing coating is well-bonded and in good condition, we can grind it down and coat over it. If it's peeling, lifting, or poorly bonded, it has to come off first. We test adhesion before recommending either approach. No guessing.
Walk on it in 24 hours. Drive on it in 7 days. We give you a specific timeline based on temperature and humidity the day of installation.
It does if the right topcoat is used. Standard epoxy topcoats yellow and chalk in UV exposure. That's why every AllPro Painters system includes a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat as standard. We formulate for the desert, not for a mild climate somewhere else.
DIY kits use water-based, one-part formulas that sit on the surface and peel within 1-2 years. We install Sherwin-Williams Tile Clad, or equivalent. A high-solids, solvent-based epoxy-polyamide coating designed for high-performance industrial maintenance. We acid etch to strip grease, tire marks, and embedded debris, then diamond grind when the slab calls for it. Different chemistry, different prep, different result.
Yes to all three. We carry a full range of decorative flake colors, metallic epoxy options, and can incorporate company logos and safety markings for commercial clients. We'll show you samples and mockups before you commit to anything.
When the floor includes flakes, anti-slip aggregate isn't needed. The topcoat doesn't completely smooth out over the flakes, so the flakes themselves act as the anti-slip texture. Pool decks and epoxy floors that don't have flakes should have an anti-slip aggregate added to the topcoat. We include that on those projects when it's necessary and we'll call it out in the bid.
